COVID-19 Event Guidelines

COVID-19 Event Guidelines (updated 3/21/2022)

The health and safety of the UNL community and visitors are our primary concern. The University of Nebraska has developed event guidelines to reinforce key elements of the university’s safety and risk mitigation efforts. Following the recommendation of local health officials, UNL has also developed special guidelines for youth events. Please review the most current guidelines below prior to submitting a Request for Service. These plans may change as we continue to monitor and respond to additional guidance from the appropriate authorities. Conference Services will host a town hall in April to go over COVID-19 event guidelines and answer any questions that you may have.

Conference Services expects that the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department will require some extra guidelines for all events residing in the residence halls and utilizing dining services. Since we cannot accurately predict the specific guidelines that will be in effect over the summer, we will wait until late April to release any Conference Services specific event guidelines. Here are some of the general guidelines we expect for all events:

  • Physical Distancing
  • Avoid crowded indoor settings where distancing is difficult
  • Follow CDC Travel Guidelines
  • Face Masks
  • Wear a face mask if you have COVID-like symptoms
  • Wear a mask based on your personal preference, informed by your vaccination status and personal level of risk
  • Hand Washing
  • Frequently wash hands for at least 20 seconds, especially after touching high contact surfaces, sneezing/coughing/touching face, or before eating
  • Use hand sanitizer when handwashing is inaccessible or infeasible
  • Illness Monitoring
  • If ill with flu-like or COVID-like symptoms, wear a mask, get tested, stay at home, and contact your health care provider
  • Minimize contact with symptomatic people
