Derek McConnell Conference Services Manager
Born and raised in Nebraska, Derek is a proud alumnus of UNL with a Management degree and MBA. Derek enjoys having the opportunity to showcase all the city and campus have to offer, especially to those who have never had the opportunity to experience “Nebraska Nice.” Derek first joined the Conference Services team in 2004 where he worked as a student employee for three years. Then, in 2007, he started a six year stint as a Conference Hall Director with the department. In the winter of 2017 Derek rejoined the team in his current position.

Amanda Orr Conference Services Manager
Born and raised in St. Louis, MO, Amanda came to UNL after completing her undergraduate and graduate degrees at Southeast Missouri State University. Amanda loves working with college students to provide an exceptional experience for summer guests at UNL. After seven summers as a Conference Hall Director, she joined the Conference Services team full time in 2022.

Kristine Olson Interim Associate Director for Conference Services
A rural Nebraska native and 2004 graduate of UNL, Kristine’s favorite thing about her job is helping others to experience campus in the summer months. She began work in Conference Services as a student in 2002, and took a professional position in the organization in 2007.

Tiana Rice Conference Services Coordinator
Tiana is from rural western Nebraska and came to UNL in 2019. She graduated with her undergraduate degree in Mathematics in 2022. Tiana previously worked for Conference Services in the Conference Assistant role starting in the summer of 2021 and moved into the Coordinator role in March of 2023. She loves creating a welcoming first impression of UNL for summer guests.
